Crisis Counseling
We talk to people over the phone or in person at our office. We can also help people who are unsure if their relationship is abusive and would like to talk to someone about this.

Emergency Shelter Placement
The most dangerous time for a victim of domestic abuse is when they leave their abuser. Orange County does not have a domestic violence emergency shelter, however, we work with survivors to try to get them into an immediate, 24-hour emergency shelter and provide them with toiletries and food during their stay.

Legal Support
Compass Center court advocates help people navigate both civil and criminal court as they take legal action to find safety and move forward with their lives. Court advocates help victims file Domestic Violence Restraining Orders
Safety Planning
We provide information and options and allow those we assist to make their own choices about the best options for them. Safety planning is an important technique to consider when victims are staying in an abusive relationship or intend to leave. Several things should be considered. Personalized safety planning is available in English and Spanish.
Please call our 24-hour hotline at 919-929-7122 if you would like to speak with an advocate about a personal plan for your daily safety.
View our Brief Safety Planning sheet for some tips on safety planning.

Mental Health Access Program
Affordable therapy is a gap for trauma survivors looking for symptom relief and healing. We provide 16 one-on-one sessions with a licensed therapist for domestic violence victims and their families.
Support Groups
Rebuilding life after abuse can feel lonely and overwhelming. Compass Center’s groups, led by trained facilitators, allow survivors to find healing and strength through shared experiences. Support groups offer an opportunity for individuals with shared experiences to come together in a safe space, to work on their own healing processes and offer support and encouragement to one another. The goal of the support groups is to help members cope with stressful life events and as a result, help members feel revitalized and strong.
Groups are held in a safe location, and all discussions during group meeting are kept confidential. Joining these groups and attending workshops are free. Our support groups are also offered in Spanish, and childcare is provided at no cost. Please see below for details regarding our various support groups and workshops.
For more information about our support groups, please contact the support group coordinator at 919-968-4610 or email groups@compassctr.org for groups in English and latinxgroups@compassctr.org for Spanish-language groups.
Housing Micro-Grant Program
Compass Center’s Housing Micro-Grant Program provides access to transitional housing for survivors who have been displaced by violence, or for whom a lack of housing contributes to their lack of safety. Survivors in our housing program receive financial support towards rent, moving expenses, and utilities, along with case management services.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, as funding permits.
